Why we will not gamify your check-ins

We turned down a popular suggestion this quarter: badges and streaks for keeping goals updated. Here is the reasoning, because it says something about how we build. Rewarding on-time updates optimizes for the update, not the outcome. That is the exact performance theater Vindaris exists to remove. A green dashboard that someone kept green to protect a streak is worse than an honest red one. Status here is already derived from the connected work, so there is nothing to manually keep up and nothing to game. The reward for good execution is that the goal moves. We would rather invest in making that link tighter than bolt on points. Disagree? That is what this forum is for.
